Mold Risk Assessment:

Environmental Compliance, Consulting, and Risk Assessment

Mold is a type of fungus that grows in damp environments. It can cause a variety of health issues, including respiratory problems, allergies, and infections.  Not all fungal spores are harmful to our health.

The absence or presence of fungal spores may only be verified by sampling and analysis by a licensed technician and laboratory.

Fungal spore verification may only be confirmed with the assistance of a microscope.  Identification and classification of fungal spores may not be performed by sight.

If you suspect that you have mold in your home or business, it's important to get it tested as soon as possible. At US Environmental Testing, we offer all-inclusive fungal spore sampling services to identify source and concentration of fungal spored in the sample site.  With the result data set, a plan of action may be derived and used for:

1.  General Inspection: property discovery purposes

2.  Insurance Investigations:  Storm water or water pipe rupture, causing water infiltration.

3.  Real Estate transaction inspection.

4.  Remediation planning and Post-remediation Valuation (PRV).

4.  Litigation investigation / documentation

5.  OSHA Investigations: OSHA 300 (3) (6) injuries/illness claim investigation.  Upon conclusion of site assessment, US Environmental Testing will create a remedial plan of action to address any potential safety concerns on your site.  Aiming to ensure that your space is safe and healthy.

Mold in Real Estate

1. The USEPA has reported that home air can have 100 times more chemicals inside than outside.

2. The USEPA has also reported that adults and kids now spend most of their time indoors (90%).

3. The CDC has reported that 20+ million adults have asthma, and the National Asthma Survey has reported that asthma is the most prevalent chronic disease among children. These numbers continue to increase annually, suggesting that the indoor environment plays a contributing role in this trend.

4. Mold growth can be present within the home and be hidden behind walls or underneath carpeting or flooring.

5. The use of Formaldehyde is prevalent in certain building materials and the concentration of this known cancer-causing agent can be many times the safe level.

HOW ARE FUNGAL SPORES IDENTIFIED?

1.  Metered air samples are captured from the sample site.
2.  Direct samples may be collected to analyze against air samples.
3.  Infrared Thermography technology is used to
isolate potential moisture rich substrates in the dwelling which are then further analyzed by moisture meters and investigated further by the inspector.
